Tanzania Elections Watch (TEW) is a regional initiative to shed light on the electoral context in the country and as such craft a regional response to the same. The regional response is one of the last few remedies available in the absence of independent oversight of the elections in Tanzania. Through Tanzania Elections Watch, regional and international civil society and other relevant actors will be brought together to critically debate key developments and events as they unfold in order to trigger appropriate responses through various regional mechanisms.
Tanzania Elections Watch serves as an alternative to the now constricted electoral context in which independent democratic actors are no longer able to fulfill their mandate in Tanzania. The initiative will work through a regional approach with local actors to document and monitor the electoral context.
